The Siege · 7 Muharram
The water is cut off
On the seventh, the army moved to cut the camp off from the river Euphrates. Thirst was to be the weapon that forced surrender.
Within the tents the children cried for water and the Imam's son ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn (a) burned with fever. Yet, the narrators record, not a single soul in the camp questioned the Imam or his stand.
